Why a Wish List?

I’m often asked, what do you want for Christmas? Or what do you want for your birthday? This page is meant to answer that question.

I’ve divided the want’s into practical and aspirational. Most people like to gift simple and/or lower priced items (not necessarily “cheap”) and that is what the practical category is for. If your heart is bigger and you want to splurge, then the aspirational is for you - they go from the expensive to the outrageous.

If these items are not for you, then at the bottom, I’ve outlined my hobbies, interests, and preferred brands. It may be easier to find a gift based on these.

Interests

• Spirits - I own a Distillery, do I need to say more? - think items that would be needed at the bar, for distillation, general items like cocktail books, bar ware, etc.
• Calligraphy - I love Calligraphy. It is the art I practice most often. I’ve recently taught myself Copper Plate calligraphy and I am currently teaching myself Spencerian Calligraphy.
• Single Board Computers (SBC) - Think Raspberry Pi, Beaglebone, etc. Also, home automation and smart devices
• Reading - I prefer hardcover books, but Kindle books work as well. I also use Audible and listen to many books when traveling to and from work. I love reading and learning new things.
• Astronomy & Astrophotography - I’m looking at upgrading my telesceop setup.
• Baking and Cooking - I love making bread… all forms of bread.
• Amateur Rocketry - I’m really getting into this. I have a life’s goal to launch a satellite into space, but my current target is to launch a bottle of whiskey to the Karman line.
• Sewing & Tailoring - I’ve been getting into tailoring my own stuff. Think learning how to make a vest, my own pants, t-shirt, etc.
