Rack Systems
00 - Rack
The server rack is a Raising Electronics 4 post open rack - 19 inch width - 15U / 36 inches in height. This has proved to be a great rack, adjustable and easily disassembled. It can easily be obtained on Amazon.
01 - Power Connections
To power all the devices I am using a CyberPower CPS1215RMS Rackmount Surge Protector. 120V/15A with 12 outlets and 15ft of cord. It is 1U in height and fits very nicely in the rack. The “PDU” is fed from a bread-box UPS. The UPS is a APC 1500VA UPS - BX1500M.
02 - Patch Panel
To keep the wiring clean and simple I am using a Rapink Patch Panel with 24 ports. With this patch panel I can easily move Cat cables around with having to re-punch them into place.
03 - Firewall and Switch
For my firewall and switch I am using a UniFi Dream Machine (UDM) Pro. UniFi offers amazing products and the UDM Pro is especially nice b/c if offers many great feature strait out of the box. High speed switch, firewall, network traffic analyzer, network management, … and the list goes on. For more information visit UniFi.
04 - NAS - Future
Through and old friend I was able to aquire a SuperMicro server x10SRW-F. I am currently experimenting with it and troubleshooting the system. I may plan on turning this machine into a more robust NAS setup.
05 - NAS - V1
This is the First NAS I ever created. I converted an old PC into a rackmount server and install TrueNAS Scale. I took the ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM motherboard out of the old PC and installed it into a Rosewill RSV-Z2850U 2U Server Chassis and added 8Tb of HD space (4x2Tb drives).
06 - Desktop - Webserver
The webserver is housed in and Old Dell Optiplex desktop PC. More detailed information of the webserver can before in the arthurshmidt.com project.
07 - Desktop - Development Server
This server is for testing/programming/experimentation. It is an old Dell Optiplex desktop PC that I purchased second hand. Please reference the network diagram below to see a list of the applications that I’m using or experimenting with.
